The WEA run computer courses for adults in all areas of Rotherham, both day time and evening. These include short "taster" courses for people to find out what using a computer is all about.

Many of the courses are "workshops", which means that learners may study their own choice of subject within the I.T. programme. In any of these classes, there may be some students learning word processing, others studying desktop publishing and some learning to use spreadsheets, for example.

Some courses lead to a nationally recognised qualification (usually CLAIT or ECDL), but most are non-accredited and learners study for their own pleasure and self-improvement. For the non-accredited courses, we now offer a Workers' Educational Association Certificate which details what the student has learned.

On most courses, learners can work at their own pace, which is very important. It means that no-one feels pressured and fast-learners don't feel frustrated. There is always a friendly and supportive environment within the classes: learners help each other and everyone's contribution is valued; and although learning is a serious occupation, it is also fun!
